The Sultanate’s Pilot Marine Farm Projects

In May 2013, Haejoo has established a Branch Office in Sultanate of Oman, following on award of pilot marine farm projects in Al Batinah region upon submission of a proposal to design and implement a sustainable marine farm using purpose-built artificial reef technology to The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Oman.

The Sultanate’s first purpose-built artificial reef project started with strategic site survey by Haejoo, in efforts to developing purpose-built artificial reef, specifically designed to suit the underwater terrain in the Sea of Oman. Total 180 units of “Arab Marine Pyramid” custom-made reef modules now form the marine farm complex that offers an ideal breeding ground for fish and other marine creatures to boost fisheries biomass in installed areas.

Haejoo has successfully demonstrated its expertise and capacity in the Middle East by completing both the Al Suwaiq artificial reef that is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Oman’s plan to build a marine farm in the region and Al Seeb/Bousher artificial reef funded by The Wave, Muscat as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with marine focus. Both projects have been delivered on time on budget and now show exponential increase in biodiversity and biomass based on monitoring results, 12 months after the pilot marine farm implementation.
